Guide for online speech and language therapy for children with a speech and/or language disorder

On the occasion of the European Day of Speech and Language Therapy on 6 March 2021 with the topic eHealth, see https://www.nvlf.nl/nieuws/dag-van-de-logopedie-2021/, the Research Group Speech and Language Therapy – Participation is Communication of HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht (Tjitske Bootsma, Rob Zwitserlood, and Ellen Gerrits) launched the Guide for Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs) (Handreiking online logopedie).

During the first Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, speech therapists started working online to a large extent. In this guide, the Research Group Speech and Language Therapy – Participation is Communication of HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht has bundled knowledge for successful online speech therapy. We discuss tips, success stories and the perceived barriers of SLTs, collected from literature research, desk research and focus groups. Parents are very positive about online SLT, and SLTs often experience more parental involvement in online treatment.
